Nomination Deadline Nears for Arch Coal’s Teacher Awards Program in Wyoming

Cheyenne, Wyo. – January 13, 2003 - The deadline for nominations for the current Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Awards program is Jan. 24, 2003, according to Greg Schaefer, the company’s vice president of external affairs, western region.

For the third consecutive year, Arch Coal will make $2,500 unrestricted cash awards to 10 Wyoming teachers, Schaefer said.

“Take time out from your busy daily schedule and nominate a teacher who has made a difference in your life or that of your child’s,” Schaefer said. He noted that the Arch Coal program is different from other teacher recognition programs in the state because teachers are the judges. “We’ve already received many nominations from around the state. But, we know there are many more excellent teachers in Wyoming who have not yet been nominated.”

Nomination forms are available in schools throughout Wyoming and in MiniMart and Taco John’s locations. Nominations also may be made online at www.archcoal.com. It is anticipated the awards ceremony will be held in early May 2003.

The program has the support of the Office of the Governor, the Wyoming Department of Education, and the Wyoming Education Association, as well as from MiniMart and Taco John’s.

Arch Coal is the nation’s second largest coal producer and employs about 600 people in Wyoming.
