Arch Coal Foundation Awards ‘Golden Apples’ to 11 Utah Teachers
HELPER, Utah, May 18, 2010 -- Eleven area classroom teachers are being awarded Golden Apple Achiever certificates, the Arch Coal Foundation announced.
According to Wess Sorensen, general manager of the Skyline Mine, the recipients of the Golden Apple award scored very high marks in the foundation's recently concluded teacher awards program. Although these teachers did not receive the Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award this year, the independent panel of judges felt these teachers deserved special recognition," he said.
This is the fourth year for the Arch Coal Foundation's teacher recognition program in Carbon, Emery, Sanpete and Sevier counties. The counties surround the Skyline, Dugout Canyon and Sufco mines operated by Canyon Fuel Company, a subsidiary of major U.S. coal producer Arch Coal, Inc.
