Arch Coal CEO to Speak at SSB Manufacturing Conference

ST. LOUIS (March 6, 2003) - Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) President and Chief Executive Officer Steven F. Leer will be a featured speaker at Salomon Smith Barney's Sixteenth Annual Global Industrial Manufacturing Conference in New York City on Wednesday, March 12.

Arch Coal, Inc. is the nation's second largest coal producer and mines clean-burning, low-sulfur coal exclusively. Through its subsidiary operations in West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Wyoming, Colorado and Utah, Arch provides the fuel for approximately 6 percent of the electricity generated in the United States.
